Our Process

Target 1: Initial Meeting

During this initial meeting we spend one to two hours getting to know more about you and your desires for your new home. We want to learn about your needs, your wants and your desires. A great way to do this is to bring clippings, tear outs from magazines and pictures from Houzz or Pinterest of what you have seen that you may want to incorporate into your project. Do not leave anything out—bring it all. We want your new home to meet your expectations, so this meeting is very important to both you and Biddison Homes for us to hit the target of expectations.

Target 2: Your Home Site

Some of our clients have already acquired a home site previously and have been waiting for just the right time to build their custom home, while others have not yet found their perfect lot. Biddison Homes can assist you in targeting that perfect home site to fit your desired budget, location, school district, etc. Once a home site has been selected, a preliminary budget can be established based upon the information gathered at the initial meeting and defining a set of specifications to meet your desires. It is at this point that you should take this preliminary budget that has been established and consult with a finance company. If desired, Biddison Homes has several preferred lenders that we can match you up with one that would best fit your needs. Once they pre-qualify you then we will be ready to move to the next phase.

Target 3: Designing Plans

Biddison Homes offers a full in-house design-build program or we can work from a third party set of plans. Our design-build process takes our customers from hand-sketched ideas on the back of a napkin to a fully targeted, custom-designed set of plans that meets the targeted desires. This targeted set of custom plans is generated taking into account the topography of your home site, trees located on the property, and location of windows to pick up desired views—all while we work with our architects and designers to put together a complete set of plans that fits your targeted needs. If you already have your complete set construction plans from a third party, and we have been able to establish the selections and features for that plan, we will be able to take those construction plans and work up a bid. If necessary we can also take those construction plans and create or modify that while working with you to obtain all of the information needed to be able to provide you with a target bid.

Target 4: Selections

Once we complete your plans, Biddison Homes will set up appointments with our design professionals to assist you in selecting items that will make “your home your way,” helping guide you through this process, while making this an enjoyable and relaxing time. Once the selections have been made, the selection sheets addendum will be signed by both builder and you, acknowledging that both parties understand what is being selected for the home. We are a custom builder and know that selections can change during the construction process. When a selection changes, the client signs a change order to ensure that both the builder and client are on the same page.

Target 5: Pre-Construction

Once you approve the architectural plans and the budget, we will be ready to finalize the contract price. At this time Biddison Homes will review the necessary steps to ensure that home construction can be started as soon as possible without unnecessary delays. During this Pre-Construction Meeting we will review and confirm that the following items are completed prior to the start of your home:

  • Financing has been secured
  • Septic engineering and permitting (if applicable)
  • Acquire necessary building permits
  • Design approved by the Architectural Control Committee (if applicable)
  • All required selections have been made

Target 6: Construction

Now that the most difficult work is completed, you can sit back and watch as your home is built. There will be scheduled times that we will meet together and walk the construction site to make sure that all your desires are being met and that we are on target. At times during the construction process it will appear like the home is in a state of organized  chaos: there will be a number of contractors working on your home and the construction site can be dangerous, so necessary precautions should be taken while visiting the site. Please feel free to post your progress pictures as we work through the various phases of construction to the final completion of your new home.

Target 7: Welcome Home

Prior to completion of your home, we will perform a final walkthrough with you to ensure the level of craftsmanship meets your targeted expectations. We will also conduct a “how to” operate the systems and features of your new home. In addition, all of our homes come with a warranty and we will explain the process to ensure your homes warranty items are serviced promptly.

We’d love to hear from you
